Liverpool and Manchester have ranked within the best 20 global cities published in Time Out’s Index for 2024. This official report is published annually, and is curated using a survey from more than 20,000 participants from across the world, with this year’s results coming as no surprise for those local to the North West of England. 

Whilst predominantly strong, working-class cities which were hit hard by redundancies, closures and cuts just a little over 30 years ago, nowadays Liverpool and Manchester are outranking cities like Los Angeles, Sydney, Barcelona, and Amsterdam, for the best places to live globally. 

In Time Out’s official index for this year, Manchester ranked as the 15th best city in the world, whilst Liverpool climbed the rankings even higher, taking the top spot for the 7th best global city.
